THE CULTURE GAP

Thousands of Kuwaitis visit the USA every Summer to explore the beautiful Niagara falls or Disney world and Hollywood studios, for me though i have luxury to visit the U.S on daily basis through G+, because the USA is not all about those places not saying they are not nice to visit in fact i would love to see it all, but what makes America tick is the people and this is the main attraction the tourists miss usually, learning about their culture and discuss different issues.   

In doing so i realized that we are not only 15 hours flight away,rather we are light years different in the way of thinking and approaching certain matters like religion ,civil rights ,democracy and the list goes on, the only similarity was that somebody in the U.S loves the Red Sox like i do . An article in the Boston globe caught my eyes yesterday and was under the heading ' JESUS RADICAL POLITICS' now try to write this heading in an Arabic news paper you be left without a heading if you know what i mean, because in respect to the great messenger you are only aloud to write JESUS SON OF MARY peace be upon him,now why is that? may be because of the liberties in the west that protects your views regardless of whom you are talking about and on the other hand we in the east are attached tightly to our holly book that makes us resent a heading like the one in the  Globe, although if you go through that specific article the author is defending Jesus teachings but that will not excuse him in our culture to choose those words as a heading.

Another eye catching issue was an article about the republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz were he said he was against the equality of gays and added that he does not know why fellow republicans are afraid of the issue. i thought this is a man worth clapping for, but scrolling down to the comments i thought waw these people takes this gay thing very seriously they are even talking about gay marriage, say what? how disgusting what a sin those people did not read about prophet LOT peace be upon him and what GOD did to his people and the land, it is not a myth the archaeologists in Jordan had pin pointed the location, are you not afraid that the same could happen to USA? this is our thinking and may i add biologically how is that done, i mean who is the under and who is the over!!ughh disgusting, but an American would reply this is their liberty and the law protects this freedom, OK but do not come to the east with ideas like this because you do not want to know what will happen to you.

we always thought that democrats and republicans are the two faces of the coin, not until i started reading those articles and comments that i found their way of thinking are different and a little hostile towards each other, to the point that i think that if somebody would ask about a location which happens to be on the left , the right wing people will not say go left rather they will say go right make a U-turn then go straight , but still having 2 political parties without a military wing or militia and only concentrate on debates is something very good we miss in the east.

yes there are differences in culture but what gathers us is humanity and for this important thing we should understand each other more.
